The Timekeepers project is bringing together a diverse group of community leaders from Indigenous and local communities to initiate a process by which communities across the continent are exchanging information and best practices about the challenges and successes they are finding in their quest for sustainability.
So far CESOSS has brought together traditional leaders from Guatemala, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, and Bolivia. The Timekeepers group has been meeting since 2012 and the first collaboration emanated from the advent of 2012, not as the end of the world, but as a time regarded by indigenous peoples and local communities as a time of flourishment.
Since the Fall of 2012, the group has met two times. On the Hopi reservation and another time in Santa Fe, NM. We are now getting ready to solidify the network by implementing very specific projects that will involve youth exchanges and short visits and planning meetings among leaders.
