About the Event
The purpose of the Acequia Walk & Talks is to invite community members - especially those who may not be directly involved in irrigation - to experience the beauty and cultural significance of our acequia landscapes, and to foster shared support for protecting and preserving these vital waterways in Bernalillo County.
Join us for a unique and educational experience walking along our cherished acequias (community irrigation systems) as we learn about their deep-rooted history and importance to our culture, land, and water. Led by Santiago Maestas, a community expert and President of the South Valley Regional Association of Acequias.
