Primera Agua: The First Water

Primera Agua marks the moment each Spring when water returns to the South Valley Acequias after the winter's rest, carrying life back to the fields, gardens, and bosque of the Valle de Atrisco.

For generations, this arrival has been cause for celebration: a time to bless the water and receive its blessing, to honor the hands that maintain the Acequias, and to welcome a new growing season together.

CESOSS hosts the annual Primera Agua Celebración to keep this tradition vibrant, gathering families for music, food, storytelling, and ceremony along the Acequia Madre. To witness the Primera Agua is to feel querencia: a deep belonging to this place and its living waters.

Come celebrate with us every March and be part of a tradition

that connects Atrisco's past to its future.
