About the Event
Bernalillo County Open Space is planning an Atrisco Memorial—a physical space dedicated to the heritage of the Atrisco land grant and to the people who call the South Valley home. The Center for Social Sustainable Systems (CESOSS) has been tasked to convene the local community and to ensure that its voice and ideas are heard and influence the memorial's design. Nothing has been designed yet. We want Atrisco's communities to speak first.
This Acequia Community Forum is the first of four taking place this fall season. Anyone is welcome to any of the four forums (dates and location of the other three coming soon). However, the focus of this first community forum is on the acequia community as the water, the ditches, and the people who keep them are one the oldest parts of the Atrisco story.
