Summary
​
The Acequia Outreach Project Coordinator will play a key role in advancing sustainable agriculture, water rights declaration, water conservation within the Middle Rio Grande South Valley Regional Acequia system, and increasing access to water sharing practices. The Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of outreach activities and facilitate the creation of the Acequia Outdoor Learning Spaces. This space will serve as a community resource to educate and engage local communities on sustainable and and water sharing practices. The Coordinator will work closely with state and local agencies, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure the success of these initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Outreach Coordination:​
-
Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage community members, local
organizations, and Indigenous groups in the Acequia Outdoor Learning Space initiative. -
Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local agencies, community
leaders, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for the project. -
Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to raise awareness
and educate the public on sustainable agriculture, water rights, and conservation
practices.

Project Management:

Coordinate the planning, design, and construction of the Acequia Outdoor Learning
Space, ensuring that it aligns with the cultural values and practices of local communities. -
Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and ensure that project goals and
objectives are met. -
Oversee project budget, track expenses, and ensure compliance with funding
requirements.

Partnership Development:

Identify and engage potential partners, including educational institutions, non-profit
organizations, and government agencies, to support the development and sustainability
of the Acequia Outdoor Learning Space. -
Collaborate with partners to develop and deliver educational programs and resources
related to sustainable agriculture, water rights, and conservation.

Communication and Reporting:

Develop and disseminate promotional materials, newsletters, and social media content
to raise awareness of the project and its impact. -
Prepare and submit regular progress reports to funders, partners, and the organization's
leadership team. -
Document project activities and outcomes, ensuring that all records are accurate and up-to-date.

Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainable Agriculture, Community Development, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination, community outreach, or a related role, preferably within a non-profit or community-based organization.

Strong understanding of Indigenous land and water practices, sustainable agriculture, and water rights issues.

Experience working with systematically disenfranchised communities and a deep respect for their cultural practices and knowledge.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Proficiency in Google Suite, Spreadsheets, and technology

Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
